4th Annual Jingletown Holiday ArtWalk Announced

Jtown Dec09 ArtwalkThe Jingletown Arts & Business Community is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Holiday Art Walk, Saturday and Sunday, December 5 – 6 and 12 – 13, 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Holiday ArtWalk will hold an opening reception on Friday, December 4, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Gallery 4:20, 420 Peterson Street, between Ford and Glascock Streets, Oakland, 94601.

This holiday open studios will highlight the work of more than 35 artists who live and/or work in the area known as Jingletown, which is situated between the Park and Fruitvale Street bridges bordered by the estuary separating Oakland from the island of Alameda.

Jingletown Open Studios: The Film

With the Jingletown Holiday Art Walk rapidly approaching, you may be wondering why you should come to Jingletown. Check out this great short film by Martin Films (in Jingletown, of course) about 2009’s Open Studios for a peek at some of our neighborhood artists, then make your plans to attend the Holiday Art Walk December 5-6th and 12-13th from 11am to 6pm (more on this to come soon).

Red Clutch Awards Announced

clutchBy now, everyone who’s anyone knows that our own Cynthia Elliot won the ‘Neighborhood Dynamo” award at the Oakland Indies this year. One of her fabulous prizes was a gorgeous red clutch purse (actually a gift bag, but we’re creative reusers like that). Being the dynamo that she is, always thinking about how to engage the community, Cynthia has started the Red Clutch Awards. Every month, the award (and said purse) will be gifted to a community member that does something above and beyond the call. The first winner was announced in June as none other than Bill Silviera.
